Description

Indication: Diazinon 60% EC is an organophophorus compound that kills a wide range of Arachnids and insects. As veterinary medicine it is employed in the control/treatment of external parasitic infestations in domestic animals. Diazinon 60% EC is effective against ticks, mange mites, ked, lice and fleas, biting flies, botfly maggot, screwworms and external parasites in animals. It also protects animals from biting fly strikes for about six weeks.

Target animals: Cattle, Sheep, Goat, Equine, Camel and dogs.

Application: Diazinon 60%EC is applied either topically as spray or as dipping. The frequency of application depends on the density of parasitic infestation. In heavy infestation the application is made 2 times at 7-day interval. In case of low parasitic infestation a single application is sufficient. During application, animals should be immersed or sprayed until the fur becomes completely saturated with dulation. Then allow the animals to drain in an open air preferably under shade for few minutes.

Spray: Dilute diazinon 60% EC at the rate of  0.1%(1 ml diazinon 60%EC in 1 liter water) and apply.

Dogs: Dilute diazinon 60% EC at the rate of  0.06%(0.6 ml diazinon 60%EC in 1 liter water) and apply.

Dip: Initially, fill the dip bath with Diazinon 60% EC  solution prepared at the rate of 1 lt. per 2400 lt. water for sheep/goat and 1 lt. per 1000 lt. for large animals. When the amount of dip bath is reduced by more than 10% replenish the dip bath at the rate of 1 lt. per 800 lt. water and 1lt per 400lt water consecutively.

Side effects: Diazinon 60% EC, an organophophorus compound is toxic to animals and human by cholinesterase blocking activity. When swallowed or inhaled or overdosed it causes toxic effect characterized by salivation, tremor, pinpoint eyes, blared vision, diarrhea and possible death due to respiratory failure.

Treatment: Cases of toxity can be combated by immediate provision of IV atropine sulphate at initial dose rate of 1 mg/ kg body weight and maintenance dose of 0.5 mg/kg body weight. Use 2 PAM IV at dose rate of 50mg/kg body weight. In case of human call the physician immediately and avail the leaflet to him.

Precaution/Warning: Diazinon 60%EC is very toxic to bird, aquatic animals and other beneficiary insects.

Never drink or eat or smoke while handling the product or before washing hands and face thoroughly with soap and water. Care should be taken to avoid swallowing or inhalation of the chemical. Operating personnel should use protective wearings: gloves, facemasks, boots and apron while handling. Wash any contacts of concentrate from skin and eyes immediately. Don’t apply while raining or during the hot time of the day or when the animals are thirsty, tired and have wounds. Young animals should not suckle before washing the udder and do not allow animals lick the applied part until it is completely dry. Don’t treat animals with other organ phosphorus based products one week before or after using diazinon 60%. As this product is toxic to bird, fishes, cat and other beneficiary insects, care should be taken to protect environmental contaminations such as waterways, pasture and other feed sources. Any unwanted contaminant should be decomposed with 5% NaOH and water. Never use the empty container for any other purpose and destroy by incinerators at high temperature . Keep the products in its origin container.

Cattle-meat and milk, 18 days

Sheep-meat and milk, 21 days
